Pramac Technologies for Energy Autonomy: A Real-World Example from Austria
Pramac, in collaboration with Austrian partner e.fit Energie GmbH, a specialist in photovoltaic solutions and energy storage systems, has completed an innovative project that sets a new benchmark in sustainable energy management. This initiative showcases not only technical excellence but also the power of strategic partnerships in accelerating the adoption of smart, decentralized energy infrastructures.
The project aims to create an integrated energy ecosystem, combining renewable energy generation, storage, and electric mobility. Initial photovoltaic installations were launched in 2014 with a capacity of 200 kWp on industrial hall roofs, expanded in 2022 to 340 kWp. By 2025, a 1,120 kWp ground-mounted PV system will further enhance the site’s energy autonomy.
Supporting the solar production, the site features a photovoltaic carport with 64 parking spaces and six electric vehicle charging stations, promoting sustainable mobility. The total installed area for the PV systems covers approximately 8,000 m², with around 2,500 bifacial modules installed, maximizing energy yield through advanced technology.
At the heart of the infrastructure is a battery energy storage system with a gross capacity of nearly 2,200 kWh, housed in a 40-foot container installed on the rooftop. This configuration is highly distinctive in the industry, where such solutions are rarely adopted due to technical and logistical challenges. The decision to place the system on the roof demonstrates Pramac’s ability to overcome complex engineering constraints with innovative solutions. The result is an installation that optimizes self-consumption, reduces grid dependency, and implements peak shaving strategies, delivering significant energy savings and greater stability for the entire infrastructure. Additionally, the system powers EV charging stations, supporting electric mobility and operational sustainability.
The use of European components ensures eligibility for local and European funding programs, increasing the project’s investment value and supporting regional supply chains.
